The Ancora Festival Presentation

The maritime calendar is preparing for a notable European showcase. From May 8 to 10, 2026, Black Pepper Yachts will present the Code 0.1 at the Ancora YACHTFESTIVAL in Neustadt in Holstein. Moored at stand V40, this in-water boat show offers the sector an opportunity to examine the carbon-built dayboat in its natural element. The event will also highlight the integration of the SEARINE electric propulsion system, proving that classic visual profiles can integrate with sustainable drivetrain choices.

Neoclassical Aesthetics in a Carbon Hull

Building a successor to a recognizable vessel carries inherent risks. The Code 0.1 was developed to honor the iconic Code 0 while pushing the design language forward. The builder retained the distinctive doghouse roof and aft vault that characterize historic J-class yachts, but introduced a subtle sheer and the early lines of an inverted bow. This 36.4-foot hull manages to project a sober silhouette without losing the familial identity that defines the Black Pepper fleet. It is a calculated exercise in updating a proven visual profile.

The Lombard Architectural Philosophy

In 2019, naval architect Marc Lombard was tasked with increasing the vessel’s speed and interior volume while preserving its elegant proportions. The resulting hull slices through the water effortlessly, delivering immediate acceleration even in light breezes. Available with either a fixed 6-foot keel or a lifting keel ranging from 3.3 to 7.9 feet, the platform provides unhindered access to shallow harbors. Twin rudders guarantee precise steering, while the wide 9.8-foot beam generates the stiffness required for aggressive racing or relaxed coastal cruising.

Modular Comfort and Open Water Capability

A functional dayboat must balance aggressive performance with liveable space. The Code 0.1 achieves this through modular, customizable interior fittings that transform it into a highly capable weekender. With accommodations across three double berths, the volume below deck provides the essential comfort expected of a modern cruiser. Above deck, handling is remarkably straightforward. A self-tacking jib and ergonomically placed cockpit maneuvers ensure that solo sailors or fully crewed teams can trim the carbon rig with absolute precision.

Infusion Technology and Structural Integrity

To maintain a strict displacement of 5,300 pounds, the construction process leaves zero margin for error. The hull and deck are manufactured using dry carbon fiber and epoxy resin via an advanced infusion process. Placing the draped carbon under a vacuum allows for the exact injection of resin, eliminating excess weight and maximizing structural rigidity. The separate components are then manually assembled, glued, and laminated before the integration of the 14 CV engine and customized electronics.

The Evolution of the Day Sailer

Now available in Classic, Spirit, and the newer Sun-Deck versions, the Code 0.1 platform continues to adapt to distinct sailing environments. Whether optimized for ocean swells or lake conditions, the focus remains entirely on delivering an exhilarating, functional, and visually striking vessel. Black Pepper Yachts has successfully merged the romance of vintage design with the aggressive metrics of contemporary shipbuilding.
