This targeted program supports breakthrough marine renewable energy solutions, specifically focusing on wave energy generation, offshore energy systems, and artificial intelligence-powered marine energy management. Eco Wave Power Global AB, a developer of onshore wave energy technology traded on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the ticker symbol WAVE, commended this strategic governmental step to strengthen Israel’s leadership in Blue-Tech innovation.

The Jaffa Port Operational Baseline

Theoretical engineering requires rigorous real-world validation to prove commercial viability. Eco Wave Power currently operates the first and only grid-connected wave energy power station in Israel, positioned at Jaffa Port. The facility exports clean electricity directly into the national grid under a Power Purchase Agreement with the Israel Electric Corporation and was recognized as a Pioneering Technology by the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Energy. During its official inauguration in December 2024, Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, confirmed the facility generates electricity using sea waves to reduce air pollution and enhance the country’s energy security. Since the beginning of 2025, the station has maintained zero downtime, providing critical operational data and proving the viability of transforming existing coastal infrastructure into clean energy assets.

Integrating Artificial Intelligence

Managing coastal energy platforms requires advanced digital oversight and continuous operational monitoring. The company aligns with the new Blue-Tech program by actively integrating artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies into its wave energy systems. This software architecture is utilized to optimize energy production, manage predictive maintenance, and facilitate the future integration of marine renewable energy with AI-driven infrastructure. Eco Wave Power was recently highlighted in California’s Final SB 605 Consultant Report, representing a significant international validation of wave energy’s growing role in the future clean energy mix. This document specifically referenced the company’s onshore wave energy pilot project located at the Port of Los Angeles, which was launched in collaboration with Shell Marine Renewable Energy. The report serves as a statewide assessment of existing marine renewable energy developments and outlines future commercialization pathways.

Scaling the Global Footprint

Extracting power from the ocean relies on generating electricity directly from existing structures like breakwaters, jetties, and piers to enable sustainable electricity production in close proximity to coastal cities.
