Expanding the Chichester Conservancy Fleet
Maritime operations demanding up to 1,200 hours of annual service require platforms designed for extreme endurance. Arksen Pro recently delivered the first Arksen 8 Pro Edition to the Chichester Harbour Conservancy. This custom 8-metre vessel joins an existing lineup that features an older Arksen RING S2 Patrol RIB. The decision to commission another hull reflects a necessary focus on operational resilience for search and rescue, coastal policing, and environmental research programs.
Ergonomics and Casualty Recovery
Interdiction and recovery missions dictate specific physical requirements on the water. The Arksen 8 Pro utilizes low-profile tubes that sit close to the waterline, allowing operators to extract casualties quickly directly from the sea. Once passengers are brought aboard, the hydrodynamically optimized hull ensures a stable transit to advanced medical care facilities. To manage crew fatigue during high-speed runs, the builder installed shock-mitigating seating for the two primary operators.
Optimized Storage for Rapid Response
Time lost on the dock loading gear directly impacts emergency outcomes. Engineers developed a ventilated, watertight compartment specifically dedicated to first aid and rescue equipment. This configuration keeps essential medical gear permanently stationed on the vessel, accelerating response times and reducing physical strain on the crew prior to deployment. Additional features include a canvas T-top with integrated underside storage for a spine board, maximizing overhead space without cluttering the deck.
Towing Capacity and Deck Layout
Heavy-duty multi-agency work involves moving stricken vessels out of active transit lanes. The Arksen 8 Pro incorporates heavily reinforced forward and aft tow posts specifically rated to handle vessels up to 24 metres in overall length with a 34-tonne displacement. The aft section also features an A-frame equipped with a robust towing fairlead. The deck layout remains highly configurable, with aft seating for four passengers that can be cleared rapidly to create an unobstructed space for casualty care. A dedicated workstation with watertight storage sits behind the helm seats to manage incident reporting.
Manufacturing Cycles and Commercial Procurement
Constructing a bespoke rapid response craft typically involves extensive lead times. Arksen Pro managed to complete this specific Yamaha-powered platform through an efficient 12-week build programme. By utilizing a dedicated UK manufacturing facility and relying on in-house engineering, the company maintains the capacity to deliver tailored professional platforms in 10 to 14 weeks depending on the final specifications. This rapid turnaround provides commercial operators with a practical avenue for expanding their fleets without enduring year-long production delays.
