Sub-Floor Supplemental Ballast: How the New S-Series Optimizes Wake Generation

5 MINUTES READ

Redesigning the S-Series Hull

Nautique Boat Company has officially introduced the completely redesigned 2027 Super Air Nautique S-Series, featuring the 23-foot S23 and the larger 25-foot S25. The core of this new release is an entirely reimagined hull design. Drawing on the proven hydrodynamics of the legacy G-Series, the new hull is engineered to produce a crisp, predictable wake for wakeboarders while delivering a natural, wide-faced surf wave with a smooth transition from crest to trough. Aesthetically, the hull features bold forward shoulders that draw aft, giving both the S23 and S25 a streamlined, forward-leaning stance.

Sub-Floor Ballast and Expanded Storage

Proper weight distribution is critical for shaping consistent wakes. The redesigned S-Series introduces optional supplemental ballast that is now housed entirely under the floorboard. This sub-floor system places 1,100 pounds of weight midship on the S23 and 1,500 pounds midship on the S25. By relocating this ballast beneath the deck, Nautique has freed up significant volume within the transom compartments. Both side storage areas now extend deep along the gunnel, communicating directly into the under-seat storage to easily accommodate longer wakeboards and surfboards.

The Optimized Helm Experience

The driver’s console has undergone a significant technical overhaul. The dash is now completely hoodless, integrating the start/stop and horn buttons directly into the panel. The updated Helm Command™ system features a dedicated stereo knob and a wireless charging mount for mobile devices. Crucially, the helm introduces the optional Steering Assist Throttle Control, allowing the driver to make precise steering adjustments without removing their hand from the throttle lever. To complete the setup, the LINC Panoray Touchscreen centralizes all vessel data, and an optional 360-degree swivel mirror provides a panoramic view of the rider.

Industry-First Deck Features

Beyond the helm, the 2027 S-Series introduces mechanical features new to the entire Nautique line-up. The optional Manual Swim Terrace is seamlessly integrated into the underside of the main swim platform. This terrace slides out and drops down into the water, providing a sturdy, submerged step for easy boarding. As a safety measure, a built-in sensor immediately alerts the driver if the engine is ignited while the terrace is deployed. Additionally, the deck utilizes the G-Series floorboard design, which incorporates an integrated in-floor cooler situated beside the driver and passenger seating.

Corporate Scale and Availability

The launch of the S-Series demonstrates the engineering scale of Correct Craft, a global marine organization that includes Nautique, Centurion, and Pleasurecraft Engine Group. According to Nautique President Greg Meloon, the S23 and S25 represent the most complete Nautique experience the builder has ever offered. Both the 2027 Super Air Nautique S23 and S25 are currently available to order through the brand’s global dealer network, marking a significant advancement in the competitive wake boat category.
