Milanese Craftsmanship
The rigid inflatable market frequently attempts to scale up without considering the core principles of maneuverability. The Milan-based boatyard Lomac has taken a deliberate step to complete its Turismo range by introducing the new Turismo 8.5. Originating from a cohesive project that began with the Turismo 7.0 in 2022, this expansion specifically targets different operational groups while maintaining top-tier construction standards. The Lo Manto family, now in its third generation, oversees the manufacturing of these vessels, guaranteeing that the strictly made-in-Italy ethos remains intact.
Functional Proportions
While the industry tends to favor sheer size, Lomac focuses on building vessels with the right physical footprint. The Turismo 8.5 fits precisely into the 8.5-metre segment, delivering the build quality and operational features usually reserved for the top of the brand’s fleet. Managing Director Fabrizio Lo Manto emphasizes that every new model must align design, engineering, and product philosophy regardless of the physical dimensions. This strategic size allows owners to experience a highly capable platform without the logistical burden of a massive hull.
Federico Fiorentino’s Aesthetic
The visual identity of this build leans heavily into a robust, military-inspired look. Designed by Federico Fiorentino, the exterior draws on the stylistic elements of larger vessels in the Lomac portfolio, adapting them into a sleeker, more minimalist profile. The focus remains sharply on ergonomics and space optimization, resulting in a shape that balances raw performance with genuine onboard comfort. This design approach ensures the vessel maintains a striking presence on the water.
Cockpit and Deck Layout
Usability dictates the deck arrangement. Starting at the stern, two large integrated beach-platforms flank a central walkway that leads directly into a spacious cockpit. The U-shaped dinette accommodates up to eight people and quickly converts into a large sunbathing area by lowering the central table. The helm features ergonomic split seats for the skipper and co-pilot, complete with an integrated fridge. A forward sunpad conceals generous storage, while the contemporary central console houses a compartment that can be configured as a chemical or marine toilet, changing room, or equipment hold.
Advanced Hydrodynamics
Achieving superior performance across variable sea conditions requires rigorous testing. The hull underwent specific CFD studies to ensure stability, efficiency, and a comfortable ride even when pushing through rough swells. Operators can choose a single outboard configuration ranging from 250 to 425 hp, or a twin setup of up to 2 x 200 hp, propelling the vessel past 50 knots. The build utilizes Orca Pennel & Flipo hypalon neoprene tubes, establishing a reliable foundation for long-term durability. Two T-top options are available, including a rigid version formed from fibreglass, aramid, and carbon fibres.
The Mediterranean Premiere
As Lomac prepares for its official debut at the Genoa Boat Show 2026, the Turismo 8.5 is scheduled to tour the Mediterranean starting in July. This operational roadmap solidifies the manufacturer’s commitment to delivering high-end, customizable inflatable boats to a global market across 20 countries.
