The Structural Birth in Greifswald

YYachts has confirmed that the first hull of the all-new Y6 is currently taking shape at full speed. Expanding the shipyard’s footprint in the performance cruising sector, the Y6 arrives as a direct response to a specific demand: a vessel that offers the privacy and luxury of a large superyacht but remains manageable for a couple or even a solo sailor. This nearly 20-meter vessel is not just another addition to the fleet; it is a calculated refinement of the brand’s “Keep it Simple” philosophy.

Tripp Design and Carbon Logic

The naval architecture, penned by the legendary Bill Tripp, utilizes advanced carbon-epoxy construction to ensure superior strength and a lightweight lightship displacement of approximately 25.9 tons. This lightweight profile is a hallmark of the fleet, allowing the Y6 to sail swiftly even in light wind conditions that would leave conventionally built yachts under engine power. By reducing the loads on the mast and deck fittings, the Y6 becomes an agile interceptor that is understandable and manageable for its owner.

Surgical 3D Engineering

One of the most innovative aspects of the Y6 build process is the use of full 3D engineering. Every module—from the technical wiring harnesses to the cabinetry—is engineered and equipped before being integrated into the yacht’s backbone. This method guarantees 100% accuracy during assembly and provides a transparent technical layout for the owner. It is a modular approach that ensures the highest standard of construction quality while allowing for a rare level of individual customization.

The Thulstrup Interior Identities

For the interior, YYachts once again collaborated with Danish architect David Thulstrup, creating a bold, timeless design language where Mediterranean sophistication meets Nordic clarity. Owners can choose from four distinct curated concepts: Milano (rich earth tones), Baltic (Nordic sand and beige), Glacier (cool neutrals), and the striking Sugi Ban—inspired by Japanese charred wood techniques. Each environment is crafted to feel fresh and odor-free, a side effect of the carbon-epoxy build that sets the Y6 apart from glass-fiber alternatives.

The Freedom of Solo Handling

Deck operations on the Y6 are engineered for safe, stress-free handling even in the tightest marinas. All halyards and sheets run aft to the wheel pedestals, placing every control within reach of the skipper. The inclusion of a bow thruster and an efficient 110 HP Yanmar saildrive ensures that maneuvers are precise and predictable. On deck, the use of long-lasting, eco-friendly synthetic teak reflects the shipyard’s commitment to modern aesthetics that don’t demand a high-maintenance crew.

Bespoke Layout Sovereignty

Below deck, the Y6 offers unmatched flexibility for a 65-foot vessel. With nearly a dozen layout variations, owners can tailor the yacht to their specific lifestyle. Whether opting for a master cabin with a private sofa, a dedicated workstation for the digital nomad, or a crew cabin in the bow for extended cruising, the Y6 accommodates the vision of the owner. As the first hull moves toward completion, it is clear that the Y6 is the new benchmark for those who want to reclaim the joy of sailing on their own terms.
