A Structural Evolution

The expedition yachting sector demands platforms that can handle brutal sea conditions while retaining high-end livability. Nordhavn continues to dominate this space with the introduction of the all-new Nordhavn 100. Evolving directly from the award-winning Nordhavn 96, the N100 advances the established design by increasing overall length and internal volume. This is achieved by integrating a larger traditional cockpit and utilizing fully extended side decks throughout the vessel’s architecture. The builder specifically notes that unlike previous N100 models, which merely added a fishing cockpit, this true N100 utilizes a modified mold section fitted to the existing N86/96 hull to genuinely enhance the interior size and incorporate full-length deck extensions.

Maximizing Usable Space

The decision to extend the decks fundamentally alters the vessel’s usability. This thoughtful evolution not only enhances the interior living spaces but simultaneously creates more expansive and highly functional outdoor areas. For owners focused on long-range passagaking, these expanded zones are critical for entertaining and relaxation during extended transits. The N100 measures 100′ 11″ overall with a beam of 24′ 0″, providing a massive footprint that feels significantly larger than its predecessor.

Heavy-Duty Propulsion and Range

Global exploration requires absolute mechanical reliability and massive fuel reserves. The Nordhavn 100 carries an immense 7,000 US gallons of fuel, feeding a twin-engine setup of Caterpillar C-18s, each producing 600 hp at 1800 rpm. To manage this power, the vessel utilizes Twin Disc gearboxes and 48″ x 40″ Hungshen counter-rotating propellers. Navigating tight anchorages is handled by a 50 hp hydraulic bow and stern thruster system, while a TRAC #370 digital stabilizer system ensures a stable ride in heavy swells.

Uncompromising Construction Standards

With a displacement of 400,000 lbs, the N100 is a heavily fortified platform. The construction process utilizes a rigorous hull lamination schedule, employing Isophthalic Gelcoat and vinylester resin below the waterline. The vessel is built to handle severe impact, featuring approximately 30,000 lbs of fixed lead ballast and multiple watertight bulkheads utilizing “Roxtec” fittings. To maintain a quiet environment underway, the hull and engine room are heavily insulated with Soundown lead foam and 3M Thinsulate, a crucial feature for minimizing fatigue during weeks at sea.

Designed for the Discerning Operator

Every element of the N100 is purpose-built to deliver the freedom to explore without limits. From the 2,000-gallon-per-day water maker to the massive 40 kW and 27.5 kW Onan generators, the systems are designed for complete autonomy. By successfully merging their unrivaled reputation for long-range performance and safety with an expanded, luxurious layout, Nordhavn has created a definitive expedition platform. The N100 stands as a primary choice for owners who require a vessel capable of crossing the world’s oceans in absolute comfort.
