The Battle for Volume: A New Definition of Space
In yacht design, innovation is often measured by how much usable space can be engineered into a finite length. Extra Yachts has just taken a decisive leap forward with the X130 Triplex, set to be the new flagship of their Triplex line. This isn’t just a bigger boat; it’s a structural argument. At just under 40 meters, this aluminum vessel commands a massive 397 GT volume. The entire design is dedicated to maximizing that internal volume and creating fluid movement, proving that smart naval architecture can fundamentally change the feel of life at sea.
The Star of the Show: A Deck Suspended Between Worlds
The defining feature of the X130 Triplex is its mezzanine deck. Raised just 90 cm above the main deck, this 30-square-meter platform is both dramatic and functional. It opens up new perspectives of the sea and hosts two twin lounge areas, separated by a sculptural fireplace that invites intimacy. Right below this central element lies a massive 60-square-meter open-air beach club, suspended between sea and sky thanks to fold-down side and aft platforms. The design philosophy behind the X130 is intelligent and purposeful. Exterior design by Studio Agon combines soft lines with bold geometry, staying true to Extra’s distinct DNA. The external staircases are moved to the starboard side amidships and integrated into the superstructure, ensuring the cockpits are clear, spacious, and flowing, free from visual barriers. Inside, interiors by Laura Brocchini Design draw light, material, and movement into balance. Travertine stone, often associated with the stability of the land, is used alongside champagne-colored reflections from surrounding mirrors, creating interiors that are sensory, warm, and welcoming.
Life at Sea: A Synthesis of Comfort and Conviviality
The X130 Triplex is shaped for sophisticated social living. The main deck saloon hosts two semicircular sofas and a 10-seater dining table, flowing into the forward master stateroom. The upper deck features a large saloon with facing seating and a bar, while the sundeck is a celebration of conviviality. This top deck, with a rigid T-Top, includes a 10-12 seater dining table, a large bar counter, and two spacious sun loungers framing a sea-facing infinity pool. This entire layout is built around the idea that life on a yacht should be experienced in full style and comfort, designed to adapt with elegance to every moment.
The Technical Statement: Performance and Network
The structural innovation of the X130 is backed by robust engineering. The propulsion system relies on two powerful 2,000-horsepower MAN engines, giving her a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
