The Motorsport Axis
The cross-pollination of automotive performance and naval architecture frequently uncovers new boundaries in speed. Bellini Yacht, the dedicated luxury business unit of the Bellini Group, has officially launched the Astor 38. Originating as a highly tailored, one-off commission for international motorsport driver Francesco Castellacci, the prototype named Astor 38 PISTA is transitioning directly into a production series. This development allows the shipyard to capture the absolute control of the racetrack and make it accessible to discerning weekend cruisers starting in September 2026.
The PISTA Visual Language
Aesthetic choices throughout the initial build borrow heavily from high-performance racing machines. The hull sports a vivid metallic silver and red finish, mirrored by a custom windshield frame painted in “Giallo Modena” and a sharp red beauty line. The exterior detailing directly echoes Castellacci’s Ferrari LMGT3 Evo. Carbon fiber seat shells mimic high-performance cockpits, while the custom upholstery incorporates the iconic lines of Ferrari Daytona seating. To enhance functionality under way, yellow markers highlight all moving structural elements, including the bow anchor and the opening aft sunpad.
Ergonomics of the Cockpit
Operating a vessel at high speeds demands an interface that prioritizes physical feedback and precise control. The helm station utilizes a specialized steering wheel featuring a prominent red central insert, a direct nod to modern sports cars. The cockpit layout is built around strict motorsport ergonomics, ensuring the pilot remains firmly planted during aggressive maneuvers. This focus on driver interface proves that track-tested placement logic translates directly to improved safety and comfort on open water.
Hull Optimization and Layout
A performance-driven day boat must retain real-world utility for long weekends. The series model features a hull optimized for maximum stability at high speeds, minimizing hydrodynamic resistance while preserving a smooth ride for family trips. The deck layout balances contemporary design with classic marine functionality, integrating a refined interior that houses a twin cabin situated at the aft. This configuration ensures that the adrenaline of a racing prototype coexists with the liveability required of a 36-to-70-foot luxury cruiser.
The Cannes Presentation
The transition from a visionary concept into a production reality marks a bold chapter for the Clusane d’Iseo boatyard. According to Martina Bellini, Marketing Director of Bellini Group, transforming this unique collaboration into a series model represents the core philosophy of their customization atelier. To demonstrate this uncompromising quality to international buyers, the original Astor 38 PISTA prototype will be on static display at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival from September 8 to 13, 2026.
