The Italian Gambit: FLIBS and the American Market

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is the definitive moment for European builders to assert their influence in the lucrative American market. This year, Baglietto is making a serious play with the U.S. debut of the DOM133 JULES. This move signals more than a market presence; it confirms Baglietto’s commitment to sharing its vision of excellence and Italian style with a crucial international audience. The DOM133 model, known for its strategic design, arrives to challenge the status quo of what a modern motoryacht should offer in terms of openness and luxury.

Design Without Apology: The Openness Revolution

The DOM 133 line, designed by Stefano Vafiadis, focuses aggressively on maximizing a sense of openness and ensuring the closest possible contact with the sea. On JULES, this philosophy is most evident in the main saloon, which features magnificent full glazing on the left side—a bold structural move made possible by shifting ventilation ducts outside. On the upper deck, two floor-to-ceiling windows open onto side balconies. This isn’t just about large windows; it is architectural mastery designed to dissolve boundaries and enhance the emotional connection with the water.

The Automotive Connection: Speed and Style

JULES’s interiors, penned by Leonardo Santi, carry an audacious thematic tribute to iconic sports cars. This is where yachting meets the high-octane world of performance motoring. The guest cabins on the lower deck pulsate with the unmistakable shades of Ferrari red, green, and blue, and Lamborghini orange. This influence extends to the wheelhouse, where bronze-coated carbon tops and grille inserts directly reference sports car design. The overall aesthetic is contemporary, yet soberly refined, using warm creams, bronzes, and light-shade wood, all unified by a magnificent bespoke chandelier from Murano.

The Fabric of Luxury: Furnishings with Intent

The quality of a superyacht is defined by its components. JULES is a testament to Italian design excellence, utilizing furnishings and fabrics from world-class brands like Minotti, Paolo Castelli, Casamilano, Foglizzo, Dedar, Rubelli, and Maria Flora. This selection of the finest Italian design houses ensures that every interior and exterior space exudes refined harmony. The result is a vessel that operates as a cohesive work of art, where every detail, from the textiles to the fixed furniture, reinforces the yacht’s contemporary and elegant style.

Baglietto’s Industrial Might: The Carrara Connection

JULES’s capability is backed by serious industrial rigor. Baglietto operates from two production sites in La Spezia (its headquarters) and Carrara. The Carrara site, which also builds military crafts under the Baglietto Navy brand, is where the DOM line is constructed. This blend of naval discipline and luxury yachting production ensures that JULES is not only luxurious and stylish but also a highly capable aluminium displacement yacht. With twin Caterpillar C32 engines, she reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots, proving that elegance and performance go hand-in-hand.
