The Scandinavian Approach
Crafting a vessel that genuinely adapts to changing routines requires moving past static layouts. Swedish builder Nimbus has revealed the first images of the Sport Tender 35. Operating as the inaugural model of the upcoming Sport Cruiser 35 series, the boat heavily reflects the brand’s foundational design philosophy of building spaces meant for extended living. This release dictates the trajectory for their future sport cruisers, matching the impact of their previous 495 Flybridge.
A Foundation of Aerodynamics
Performance relies entirely on the structural integrity beneath the waterline. The Sport Tender 35 rides on a newly developed, air-lubricated twin-stepped hull. This specific architecture minimizes drag while maintaining stability across varied sea states. Crucially, this single hull design will serve as the foundation for the entire 35-foot range, which will soon include the Sport Weekender and the Sport Coupé. By standardizing the lower footprint, the shipyard ensures consistent ride quality across all three upcoming variations.
Shifting Deck Configurations
A capable dayboat must pivot instantly between transit and leisure. The 35 features two distinct living spaces designed to transform as the hours pass. The foredeck operates initially as a secure work surface for line handling, but quickly transitions into two broad sun lounges. At the stern, the layout revolves around a massive U-sofa. The three-part backrest on this fixture folds flat into a sunbed or flips outward to face the fold-out hull balconies, extending the usable deck directly down to the water.
Accommodations for Extended Trips
While open platforms often sacrifice lower deck volume, this model prioritizes overnight capability. Below the main deck, the layout incorporates two dedicated cabins designed to sleep five passengers comfortably. The space includes a generously proportioned head, complete with a shower and washbasin. This configuration allows a full family to remain aboard for extended weekend trips without feeling confined by the typical limitations of a sport tender.
The Cannes Debut
Bringing a fresh concept to the global market demands a prominent venue. CEO Johan Inden noted that the vessel brings the comfort of a closed coupé into an open sport cruiser format, remaining true to the DNA established by the brand in 1968. Buyers and industry professionals will have the opportunity to inspect the physical build when the Sport Tender 35 makes its official world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2026.
