Recognizing Conscious Superyacht Practices
The yachting industry is actively evaluating its environmental footprint. The Blue Wake™ Programme recently processed 71 applications, validating 60 projects aimed at conscious marine practices. From this pool, 15 projects have been officially shortlisted as nominees across five distinct categories for the 2026 Blue Wake™ Awards. The final winners will be announced precisely one week prior to the Monaco Yacht Show, which runs from September 23 to 26.
The Nautical Supplier Nominee
Among the shortlisted candidates is TABU S.p.A., nominated in the Nautical Supplier category for its Biodiversity Veneer. Founded in Italy in 1927, the company specializes in the processing and coloring of natural wood. Making its first appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show, the manufacturer is transferring its decades of high-end interior and design expertise directly into the superyacht sector. The objective is to expand the aesthetic possibilities of marine interiors while preserving the physical authenticity of the raw timber.
The Red Box 555 Colour System
Maintaining chromatic consistency across large-scale interior installations demands severe quality control. TABU utilizes a highly regulated coloring process that preserves the natural grain and texture of the wood. This process culminates in the Red Box 555, a dedicated collection containing 555 specific colors for natural and multilaminar wood. This tool provides marine architects with the exact specifications needed to create highly customized, coordinated interior spaces on board.
Tactile Surfaces and The Design Collection
Traditional veneer applications are evolving into highly textured structural elements. The manufacturer’s Design Collection pushes decorative boundaries by introducing tactile surfaces named Graffiti, Groovy, ReFIGURED, and Muta. These distinct variations offer three-dimensional effects, graphic expressions, and creative inlay
Coordinating Horizontal and Vertical Spaces
A cohesive interior design requires strict alignment between bulkheads and deck flooring. TABU extends its manufacturing capabilities to wood flooring, allowing designers to precisely match vertical surfaces with the deck underfoot. By coordinating the wood species, grain, color, and finish, shipyards can achieve a unified environment throughout the vessel.
