The Rapsody R35 V-Foil Transitions from Renderings to the Enkhuizen Docks

Physical Validation on the Docks

Presenting a physical vessel heavily alters public perception. After extensive digital development and closed testing, Rapsody Yachts brought the completed R35 V-Foil to the HISWA te Water 2026 boat show. This exhibition allowed owners and industry professionals to physically inspect the hull, moving past initial renderings to evaluate the actual composite construction and material selection directly on the docks.

Engineering the V-Foil Lift

Generating lift without compromising traditional hull aesthetics demands severe hydrodynamic calculation. Rapsody partnered with Simonis Voogd Design and Paul Dijkstra Composites to execute the V-Foil underwater architecture. Unlike conventional hydrofoils that completely elevate the vessel, this system provides a maximum lift of exactly 35 centimeters. This specific operational height reduces water resistance and improves overall hull stability while securing up to a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption during active transits.

Modular Deck Configurations

Accommodating different cruising habits requires an adaptable floorplan. Operating on a 10.67-metre length and a 3.20-metre beam, the R35 incorporates a modular open transom cockpit. Operators can configure the primary social zone with a central sunbed or split the layout with dual sunbeds to create a direct centerline walkway. Below the deck, the builder integrated a dedicated master cabin for two adults and a full wet room featuring a separate shower facility.

Executing Four Distinct Profiles

To address volatile maritime climates, the manufacturer offers the hull in four specific structural configurations. The Cabrio utilizes an entirely open cockpit for maximum exposure, while the Classic pairs this open layout with a traditional wood-look aesthetic. For aggressive weather protection, the Nordic incorporates a fully enclosed T-top equipped with a sliding roof and heavy-duty roof racks. The Panoramic bridges these concepts by outfitting the T-top with open side windows to maintain unobstructed sightlines. Operators can review the specific hull lines referenced in Captura de pantalla 2026-08-25 181847_15.png to evaluate the aerodynamic approach.

Initiating the Enkhuizen Sea Trials

The conclusion of the HISWA exhibition immediately transitions the project into its next operational phase. Rapsody transferred the first R35 unit back to its primary facility in Enkhuizen to commence formal sea trials scheduled throughout Q1 2026. This testing period allows prospective buyers to physically gauge the handling characteristics of the V-Foil system across open water. The shipyard established a base entry point of €699,000 for the platform, excluding VAT and delivery fees.
