The 42-m Exuma Arrives in Viareggio for Final Outfitting
Advancing the Outfitting Phase
Italian builder Maiora, operating under the NEXT Yacht Group portfolio, has transferred the inaugural hull of the Maiora 42 Exuma series to its Viareggio headquarters for outfitting. Initially announced to the public in July 2025 with a confirmed American buyer, the 42-metre vessel is moving steadily toward its scheduled 2027 delivery. The project pairs the exterior naval architecture of Giorgio M. Cassetta with interior curation by fashion designer Elie Saab, operating under the direction of Carlo Colombo of A++.
Reconfiguring the Deck Architecture
The design team explicitly avoided conventional spatial arrangements, opting to remove typical limitations like cramped crew quarters and oversized main saloons. The resulting four-deck layout redistributes living areas to prioritize continuous flow and natural light. Up to 12 guests are accommodated across four VIP cabins and a dedicated owner’s suite located on the main deck. This primary suite incorporates a private bar corner, two walk-in dressing rooms, and a his-and-hers en suite, establishing a self-contained living environment.
Panoramic Upper Deck Volumes
Maximizing outdoor liveability dictated a complete overhaul of the upper deck. By relocating bulky equipment and technical stations that usually obstruct sightlines, the architects created a fully glazed level dedicated entirely to relaxation. The open-plan lounge provides unobstructed views from bow to stern, complemented by fold-down terraces and a glass-bottom pool that filters natural light down to the lower deck. Forward, a remotely adjustable circular sunbed area allows guests to align with the sun’s trajectory throughout the day.
Bespoke Interior Styling
The interior aesthetic relies on airy, continuous volumes rather than isolated compartments. The living areas feature statement pieces from the Elie Saab Maison collection, integrated alongside bespoke works crafted specifically for the marine environment. The material selection emphasizes longevity and visual depth, utilizing Mystic Ocean marble, light bronzed mirrors, teak ceilings, and high-resistance fabrics to complete the contemporary profile.
Multifunctional Lower Deck Spaces
While the lower deck primarily houses the crew and service infrastructure, the designers carved out a distinct multifunctional space for the owner. This area can be configured as a gym, massage room, media center, or a sixth cabin complete with a bathroom. To ensure smooth hospitality operations across all four levels, a large dumbwaiter services the entire vessel. Buyers also have the option to install a panoramic glass elevator connecting three decks, a feature typically reserved for much larger platforms.
Propulsion and Production Capabilities
Engineered for rapid transit, the Maiora 42 Exuma features an 8.9-metre beam and targets a top speed of 30 knots. The aft garage provides storage for a six-metre tender and two Jet Skis. The ongoing construction of this flagship coincides with NEXT Yacht Group’s recent 100 percent acquisition of SIMAN, a metal fabrication and mechanical engineering specialist, further expanding the manufacturing capacity behind the Maiora and AB Yachts product lines.
