Hybrid Diesel-Electric Propulsion Anchors the New ER Yacht Design Profile
Defying Fleeting Aesthetics
ER Yacht Design recently presented Untouchable, a 110-m modern gentleman’s concept. The studio prioritizes timeless proportions and fluid deck transitions over transient visual tricks. Founder Ivan Erdevicki noted that the character of the vessel emerges from its calm yet powerful surface geometry. The exterior encourages detailed observation, establishing a seamless physical flow between the interior living spaces and the surrounding marine environment.
Structural Composition and Glazing
The foundation of the concept relies on a robust steel hull paired with an aluminium superstructure. Spanning a 17-m beam with a 4.4-m draft, the vessel establishes a massive footprint on the water. The main guest decks incorporate floor-to-ceiling glass facades, allowing natural light to saturate the living areas. Sculpted deck edges provide natural shading and privacy for these expansive windows. Spacious walkways and tiered terraces blur the physical boundaries between the indoor and outdoor zones.
The Multi-Level Beach Club
A defining architectural element of the Untouchable is its expansive aft beach club. Conceived as a multi-level waterfront retreat, the upper terrace features a centrally positioned swimming pool. Wide staircases descend to the primary beach club at the waterline, which integrates a full-service bar and dedicated lounge areas. Fold-down hull-side terraces deploy to maximize the available deck space, creating a massive platform for swimming, sunbathing, and launching water toys directly onto the swell.
Curating a Residential Environment
The interior styling mirrors the calm proportions of the exterior profile. The living spaces utilize light-toned natural woods, ivory textiles, and warm metallic accents to cultivate a refined residential atmosphere. The main saloon accommodates generous lounge seating and a formal forward dining area. This aesthetic extends into the owner’s suite, which features a private lounge and a spa-inspired en suite complete with symmetrical vanities and a freestanding bathtub overlooking the seascape.
Aviation and Remote Capabilities
Operating in isolated environments requires specialized infrastructure. The upper deck aft houses a fully integrated helideck equipped with dedicated refuelling and defuelling systems. This placement keeps aviation operations physically separated from the primary guest areas while maintaining direct access to the interior. The capacity to execute private transfers autonomously makes the platform highly suitable for extended voyages across remote cruising destinations.
Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion
Long-range transit demands a highly efficient mechanical package. The concept incorporates a hybrid diesel-electric shaft-line propulsion system featuring controllable-pitch propellers and an integrated Promas propeller-and-rudder setup. Supported by power take-in and power take-off (PTI/PTO) electric drive capabilities, the vessel targets a top speed of 17 knots. The system is projected to deliver an operational range exceeding 8,500 nautical miles, establishing a highly capable operational baseline for prospective buyers.
