From Lürssen Concepts to Hargrave Delivery: The Teruzzi Design Language
Expanding the Signature E Series
Hargrave Custom Yachts relies on international design partnerships to continually diversify its highly successful Signature E Series. The American shipyard recently unveiled the latest model in this semi-custom line, an expansive tri-deck superyacht conceptualized by the Italian studio Gabriele Teruzzi Yachts & Design. This new addition follows four previous E Series iterations penned by established firms, including Satura Studio Yacht & Design and Tony Castro Yacht Design. The underlying engineering platform remains consistent with over 30 previous deliveries, allowing Hargrave to execute construction entirely in-house.
The Gabriele Teruzzi Influence
Gabriele Teruzzi brings substantial European design pedigree to the American builder. Before establishing his own firm a decade ago, Teruzzi contributed to production and megayacht projects for Azimut, Mangusta, and Fairline. Operating independently, his studio has collaborated on massive projects, including a 110-metre concept with Lürssen and multiple 65-80-metre designs alongside Fincantieri Yachts. The partnership with Hargrave represents a calculated effort to infuse the builder’s proven mechanical framework with a refined, Italian-influenced aesthetic.
Classical Proportions and Natural Light
The architectural direction for this specific E Series model draws direct inspiration from classical music. Teruzzi designed the exterior profile to reflect harmony, rhythm, and controlled proportions rather than relying on extraneous styling elements. The resulting tri-deck features clean, sporty lines intended to attract a younger demographic of superyacht buyers. Internally, the designer prioritizes natural light through the heavy integration of floor-to-ceiling glass and lowered bulkheads, expanding the visual footprint of the full-beam interior.
The Veranda Deck Option
To accommodate varying operational preferences, Hargrave offers the Teruzzi design in two distinct main saloon layouts. The primary differentiator is the inclusion of an optional “Veranda Deck.” This configuration replaces the traditional enclosed lounge with an expansive, nearly open-air leisure space, maximizing the connection between the interior and the marine environment. The overarching interior design champions meticulous craftsmanship, utilizing a neutral color palette built around premium Italian leathers and marbles selected to age gracefully with the vessel.
Continued Production Momentum
The Signature E Series covers an overall length range between 108 and 132 feet (33 to 40 meters). Hargrave has already delivered four yachts within this specific class, including the 116-foot Romeo Foxtrot in 2023 and a subsequent 118-foot model for the same owner. The shipyard currently has a 40-metre E Series build under active construction, which is scheduled for delivery in March 2027. This continued production underscores the market demand for platforms that successfully merge reliable engineering with highly adaptable, custom-tailored design elements.
