Restructuring the Refit Timeline
Coordinating multiple equipment suppliers during an extensive superyacht refit frequently creates severe scheduling friction. Genoa-based Amico Marine is actively targeting this logistical challenge by formalizing its relationships with 13 equipment manufacturers. These original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have officially joined a new technical network deliberately designed to improve operational coordination between the shipyard and external technical teams.
The Founding Syndicate of Manufacturers
The newly established network comprises several highly prominent maritime suppliers. The current roster includes Akerboom, Alukwa, CGT, De Keizer, Jastram, Magnus Marine, RTN Reintjes, Rubber Design, Telemar, VBH, Voith Italy, Xeamos, and Xquip. These specific companies cover a broad spectrum of critical technical sectors. Their collective expertise encompasses marine engineering, steering systems, gearboxes, anti-vibration technology, navigational safety, emissions reduction, and heavy deck equipment.
Pre-Arrival Logistics and Preparation
The core operational focus of this formal collaboration remains strictly practical. The framework guarantees that OEMs receive earlier information regarding upcoming maintenance projects. Through regular coordination meetings and improved schedule visibility, manufacturers gain the necessary lead time to properly organize their technicians, source required spare parts, and finalize service windows. Simultaneously, the in-house technical departments at Amico Marine take on a significantly more active preparatory role. The shipyard teams will actively prepare specific work scopes and establish the precise conditions required for OEM interventions before the external specialists even step aboard the vessel.
A Unified Point of Contact
Managing various distinct contractors often places an immense administrative burden on the yacht’s crew. For owners and captains, Amico Marine aims to eliminate this overlapping communication by providing a single point of coordination when multiple manufacturers are involved in a refit project. By having the shipyard handle the broad preparation and synchronization processes, the equipment manufacturers can deploy their specialists strictly where their highly specific technical expertise is required.
Integration and On-Site Training
This technical network heavily expands upon the wider integration strategy launched in May, which saw Amico & Co consolidate its refit yards, marina infrastructure, and technical services under the unified Amico Marine identity. Moving forward, several members of the network have formally committed to providing dedicated training sessions for both Amico Marine personnel and visiting yacht crews. This educational component is intended to support manufacturer-approved maintenance practices and establish a foundation of technical knowledge that remains accessible throughout the vessel’s lifecycle. Ultimately, this closer planning model will drastically reduce unnecessary travel for OEM technicians, allow for the intelligent consolidation of maintenance activities, and foster long-term collaboration built on shared objectives.
