Structuring Autonomous Infrastructure

As marine operations shift toward uncrewed platforms, the physical hardware required to retrieve and launch these assets must evolve. Cellula Robotics and Industrias FERRI recently established Nautical Reach Systems, an East Coast Canadian joint venture focused entirely on autonomous marine handling. Naval fleets and offshore commercial operators rely on these vehicles to execute missions in highly volatile zones. The newly formed operation engineers marine motion and lift systems designed to function reliably across these exact environments, including extreme Arctic conditions, securing autonomous platforms safely at sea without requiring direct human intervention on the deck.

Merging Subsea and Surface Architecture

Connecting a host vessel to a submerged robotic platform requires precise engineering coordination. Cellula Robotics brings 25 years of demonstrated subsea engineering to the venture, backed by extensive experience integrating long-endurance autonomous underwater systems. By pairing this subsurface knowledge with FERRI’s 60 years of advanced marine deck machinery production, the joint venture delivers a unified development team that understands the mechanical requirements both above and below the waterline.

Injecting Capital into Canadian Production

Establishing localized manufacturing pipelines remains critical for North American marine operators. To support this demand, FERRI committed a multi-million-dollar investment into Canada through the Nautical Reach Systems venture. This capital injection directly supports the creation of skilled manufacturing jobs and localized intellectual property. Cellula Robotics will parallel this financial commitment by contributing its established proprietary intellectual property regarding autonomous handling solutions.

Waterfront Engineering and Wellness

Modern charter assets demand extensive waterside infrastructure to maximize the guest experience. The main deck aft serves as a primary social zone, seamlessly incorporating a 6.5-metre glass-sided counterflow swimming pool. The aft platform features one of the most expansive beach clubs in its specific class, complete with a drive-in tender docking system, fold-down lateral terraces, and ambient illumination sourced directly from the pool skylights located above. The bridge deck is entirely dedicated to physical wellness, offering a panoramic gymnasium alongside a full spa equipped with a hammam, sauna, and a private treatment room.

Expanding Global Maritime Operations

This strategic partnership actively connects established European and North American industrial networks. FERRI currently supplies heavy load-handling solutions to international navies, the Royal Canadian Navy, and the Canadian Coast Guard. CEO Patricio Fernández views the collaboration as a direct method to expand these Canadian partnerships by integrating Cellula’s robotics capabilities. The resulting operation provides fleet commanders with practical, heavily tested deck machinery designed specifically to support the next generation of autonomous marine platforms.
